LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The woman accused in a wrong-way crash that killed three people in Lexington was expected back in court Tuesday.

Police say 42-year-old Tammy Rodriguez was driving under the influence Sept. 4 on Interstate Highway 75 when she hit another vehicle head-on. Authorities say she was fleeing Winchester police when she went the wrong way down the interstate.

The crash killed sisters 26-year-old Taylor Blevins and 20-year-old Caitlyn Bailey. It also killed Rodriguez's sister, Debbie Lynn Bevins, who was a passenger in Rodriguez's car.

Rodriguez has been charged with three counts of murder. She previously pleaded not guilty.

The sisters' aunt, Elizabeth Sawyers, has told LEX 18 that she's pleased with the charges.

“We are just really happy she has the murder charges on there, not just manslaughter, because what she did was out and out murder,” said Sawyers. “We are just happy that hopefully she won't walk away from anything."

Rodriguez is due in Fayette County District Court this morning for a preliminary hearing.
