WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Katy McDaniel held the hand of a family member, never once picking her head up to look at her accused attacker. Kenneth “Doug” McDaniel was in Woodford County Circuit Court where he entered a plea of not guilty on a first-degree assault charge.
Two months ago, Kenneth was charged in connection to the attack on his wife inside their home in Midway on Oct. 6. According to police, Katy McDaniel was stabbed 26 times. Doctors fear some of her injuries, and certainly the scarring, could be permanent.
Kenneth McDaniel was arrested after being found in Indiana shortly after the alleged attack.
His attorney, who declined comment for this story, is expected to introduce cell phone records, which presumably he will want to enter as evidence at trial. A hearing to argue that point is scheduled for Dec. 19.
