Shooting Monday morning leaves child with life-threatening injuries

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — An early-morning drive-by shooting Monday left a 5-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting happened at about 2:13 a.m. on Catera Trace in Lexington when the suspect fired multiple shots into a home hitting the boy and his mother while they were visiting with family members.

The injuries to the 35-year-old mother are not life-threatening, police said.

Police said the shooting is under investigation and they do not have any suspect information at this time.
