ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Rowan County man is fighting for his life after being stabbed multiple times.
The man's family says he was trying to protect his daughter, from allegedly being kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend.
State Police say 21-year-old Jordan Adkins allegedly cut the screen of the front porch, opened the door and climbed through a window.
"The next thing I knew, I woke up and Jordan's hand was over my mouth and telling me I need to pack mine and my son's things and go with him," the victim said.
The victim says she has a Domestic Violence Order against Jordan Adkins. While they were trying to work things out, she says she had recently ended their relationship. The victim and her mother, both still shaken up, didn't want to go on camera or be identified.
"When my dad came out, Jordan just started stabbing him repeatedly and we kept on trying to push him out of the back door," the victim said.
"He had stabbed him eight times, each side of the neck," the woman's mother said.
The victims told LEX 18 the suspect allegedly doused the front and back porches in kerosene, tried to light the back porch on fire but it didn't catch and ran off.
According to State Police, Jordan Adkins has been arrested and charged with several crimes including violation of a DVO.
The victim says while they are glad the suspect is behind bars, her father continues to fight for his life in the hospital.
"I'm just hoping and praying he comes out of this, because there is a chance that he won't," the woman's mother said.
