HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A guilty plea and a sentence were handed down for the man accused of shooting at police and a helicopter in Harrison County in 2017.
According to the Cynthiana Democrat, Thomas Vanmeter agreed to enter a guilty plea to 12 of the 20 counts he was facing, they included first-degree wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and other charges. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Vanmeter allegedly fired at a pilot and passenger while they were landing a utility helicopter in September 2017. When deputies arrived, they said he also fired at them before getting away.
He was arrested the next day.
