LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two reports of shots fired overnight appeared to be unrelated, police in Lexington said Friday.

The first incident apparently occurred at about 1:45 a.m., near West 4th Street and Smith Street. Officers in the area observed someone in a black pickup truck fire shots at a Sedan.

Police tried to make a stop on the truck, but the driver refused to pull over. They later found the truck abandoned on Dawson Springs Way.

Police also found a man covered in dirt and mud in the same area. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

Officers also responded to a report of shots fired near Georgetown Street and Newtown Pike. A few minutes after they arrived on scene, police learned that a man had showed up to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police believe that man is the victim in the shooting, but they cannot give a definitive answer because he is not cooperating with their investigation.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
