KSP investigating deadly Knott County shooting

GARRETT, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Knott County man was arrested Sunday after police said he admitted to shooting two people in Garrett.

Kentucky State Police responded to Babe Bolen Drive at 10:54 a.m. Sunday where Travis Short, 29, told dispatchers he had shot his uncle Denver Patrick, 45, and Edna Patrick, 68.

Denver Patrick was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knott County Coroner. Edna Patrick was taken by Lifeguard Ambulance to be treated for her injuries and is in stable condition.

Short is being held at Kentucky River Regional Jail and is charged with murder, first-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence.

The case remains under investigation.
