FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man accused by police in a deadly Frankfort shooting has pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

Authorities accused 18-year-old Elijah T. Amburgey of shooting two men late Monday, killing one of them.

Authorities said they were called out about 11:20 p.m. to the 400 block of Menominee Trail to reports of burglary and shooting. Officers found 19-year-old Xavier Cochrum suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Frankfort Fire personnel took him to Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Police said they found 19-year-old Ezavion Peyton "in the area" also with gunshot injuries. He also was taken to the hospital. Officials said he was in fair condition.

Officials said Amburgey also fired a gun toward another man, Patrick Greenlee Jr., but did not hit him.

Amburgey was charged with murder, first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment.

After entering his not guilty plea, Amburgey's bail was set at $100,000. He was due back in court Oct. 8 for a preliminary hearing.
