LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A local business owner says that he is dealing with two burglaries at his business in the last month.

Jack Brandenburg of Brandenburg Auto says that several hundred dollars in cash, thousands of dollars worth of tools, and a gun was stolen from his business.

He said he kept a legally registered pistol in his desk at work and now it is gone.

On March 4, his business on Versailles Road was broken into for the second time in recent weeks. Surveillance images offer a good look at the person of interest Lexington Police are hoping to speak with.

“That’s one of those things these guys like to take a lot of time, because they like to flip these things on the street and if they’ve got any experience they tend to stay away from the pawn shops and places they know we monitor. so they’ll try to go to guys who are in businesses that are similar and try to sell them for 1/2 the price of a 1/4 of what they’re worth,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Detective Thomas added that if you are buying these tools and they are not legit, you will know the difference and if you buy it, you’ll be held accountable.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. You can call the anonymous Crime Stoppers tipline at (859) 253-2020.
