Woman injured in shooting on Lexington's south side

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington were investigating after a woman was injured in a shooting Thursday night on the city's south side.

Authorities said police responded about 9:30 p.m. to a report of shots fired along Spangler Drive. Officers said they found the injured woman on Waterwood Terrace.

Police said the woman was shot in the leg. The injury was described as minor. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Officials said the woman told them she wa in a vehicle at the intersection of Spangler Drive and Ridgepoint Run when someone shot her for "no reason."

Police recovered shell casings in the area, authorities said. No arrests have been made in the incident.
