LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The University of Kentucky is making spare masks available to students, faculty and staff at pop-up ‘Wellness Stations’ ahead of the first day of classes on Monday.
Masks will be mandatory in classrooms and around campus.
UK Wellness Director Ashley Hinton-Moncer said their goal is to ensure everyone can effortlessly follow the university’s reopening guidelines.
“We all forget. This is not something we’re used to doing. Remembering to grab our mask every time we leave our house or car or office, so we know students will forget their mask from time to time,” Hinton-Moncer said. “We’re reducing that stress of not know where your mask is that day. Or they wash their mask and it’s still wet so they need to access one. We want to make that as easy and available as possible.”
The ‘Wellness Stations’ will also carry hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for people to take.
“In between classes maybe they don’t have time to wash their hands thoroughly so we want them to have everything they need for healthy handwashing,” Hinton-Moncer said.
Pop-up ‘Wellness Stations’ can be found at three locations Monday through Friday.
One will be located outside Barker Hall. One will be located between the Hilary J. Boone Center and the pathway to the William T. Young Library.
The final ‘Wellness Station’ location will be rotated weekly at the following six sites:
- White Hall Classroom Building;
- College of Agriculture, Food and Environment complex;
- Gatton College of Business and Economics Building;
- The 90;
- Bowman Statue at Alumni Plaza; and
- between the College of Health Sciences and Jacobs Science Building.
