LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — An early-morning crash that killed a pedestrian on Versailles Road Monday has been ruled a suicide.

Police responded at about 1:30 a.m. to the area of Versailles Road near Westmoreland Estates -- near the intersection with Parkers Mill Road -- where a pedestrian had been hit and killed by a car.

Police said the victim laid down in the road before she was hit.

The outbound lanes of Versailles Road between Blue Grass Airport and the Kentucky Castle were shut down until about 6 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
