JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police continue to investigate after a Nicholasville officer fatally shot a man in Jessamine County.

Authorities said 27-year-old James Crowe was armed when police shot him Thursday morning on Beauford Place off Main Street.

Police had been called to the home to check on a report of domestic abuse, officials said.

Neighbors tell LEX 18 that they were shocked by the death and that Crowe was a quiet man.

"He drank, and he would get a little violent, but I never knew him to get dangerous like to hurt anybody," said neighbor Charles Hillard.

Crowe's relatives who were contact by LEX 18 said they were not ready to speak about the death yet.

KSP officials said the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing.
