LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — In-person visitations at some long-term care facilities have resumed after the state relaxed restrictions earlier in the week.
Sayre Christian Village is preparing to welcome visitors to three of its facilities on Tuesday.
“We’ve been meeting all weekend trying to figure out what is going to work best so that we follow the guidance and so that we can have as many visitors as we can because we know that we’re essentially going to be opening up the floodgates. We know the families are going to be wanting to come in here,” said Sayre Christian Village CEO Karen Venis.
The new guidelines only apply to non-Medicare-certified facilities, which include assisted living, personal care, intermediate care, and independent living centers.
People will have to meet a set of requirements to visit in-person.
Visitations will be scheduled online in one-hour blocks.
“When they come in they will need to show proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours or proof of a vaccine, having both rounds of that vaccine,” Venis explained.
Venis added if for any reason a visitor does not have their paperwork, staff will be available to do a rapid COVID-19 test onsite.
Staff will escort visitors around the building to reunite with their loved ones. There will be six designated spaces in common areas where the visits can take place or there is also an option to have the visit in the resident’s apartment.
The visitation calendar will be posted on the Sayre Christian Village website on Monday.
