PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A man suspected of fatally shooting his wife killed himself Wednesday as Pulaski County deputies tried to serve a murder warrant.

Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck said 33-year-old Bobby E. Eldridge was pronounced dead after shooting himself inside a motel room near U.S. Highway 27 and Kentucky Highway 80.

On Oct. 27, deputies responded to a home in the 2300 block of Old Cuba Road in Burbank, where they found Eldridge and his wife, Donna Eldridge, both with a gunshot wounds to the head. Donna Eldridge was dead at the scene, and Bobby Eldridge was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Speck said investigators determined Eldridge had killed his wife and issued a murder warrant for his arrest.

But when deputies along with Kentucky State Police troopers and Somerset police tried to serve the warrant Wednesday, Eldridge shot himself and died, authorities said.

Speck said the case remained under investigation.
