(LEX 18) — Kentuckians overwhelmingly support the legalization of medical marijuana in the commonwealth, a newly released poll shows.

The telephone survey, conducted by the non-profit Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and Interact For Health, found that 90% of respondents said they favored allowing Kentuckians to legally obtain marijuana for medical use.

The results also show that support for legalization "under any circumstances" has grown to nearly 60% and about half of supporting legalization for recreation alone.

The poll comes as Kentucky ahead of possible legislation that would legalization of medical marijuana.

Support for medical marijuana was high among those across the political spectrum, according to the poll.
