SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police charged a minor Thursday who they say was found with a handgun while on a school bus in Washington County.
Authorities said police were called out about 7:15 a.m. after Washington County School District officials stopped the child before entering the school building.
Police said that other students told the bus driver that the minor had handgun in his backpack.
Police charged the minor, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
The student was being held in the Adair County Youth Development Center.
