LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police have arrested a man they say stole over $2,000 worth of furniture from a local business.

The alleged crime took place in July 2019. According to an arrest citation, James Richardson stole multiple pieces of new packaged furniture from a storage container behind Overflow Furniture and Mattress Outlet on Alexandria Drive.

Police wrote that surveillance footage captured Richardson and a co-defendant behind the store loading furniture into a Silver Dodge Ram 1500. Richardson loaded a mattress, a boxed recliner and other unseen property into the truck and drove away.

The video clearly captured a tattoo that reads "Hood" and police were able to use that to identify their suspect.

Richardson admitted to the crime and has been charged with 3rd-degree burglary. He's been lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
