Nicholasville man arrested in Lexington shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington have arrested a Nicholasville man who they say intentionally fired a gun at a woman in July.

Authorities say 26-year-old Leonel Medrano has been charged in the case.

The woman told police she was meeting a someone who wanted to buy her gun for $500. She said that she gave the man the gun and the man gave her some of the money but said he needed to get the rest.

With that, she said, the man started running away. The woman said she chased after him and he dropped the gun

The woman said that as she was trying to recover the weapon two people got out of a red car that the man had run toward and one of those people fired a gun at her.

The woman said he recognized Medrano as the shooter.

According to his arrest citation, Medrano and the others in the red car had conspired to get back what they believed was a stolen gun.

Medrano was charged with wanton endangerment.
