LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Santa Claus made a very special visit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington Friday.

The visit was organized by the Early Bird Foundation, which was created in an effort to offer emotional and financial support to families in the NICU.

“I’ve peeked into their rooms as Santa is holding their babies,” said Lyndsey Lewis, co-founder of the Early Bird Foundation. “The looks on their faces can bring me to tears. I just know how special that is, because I would’ve given anything to have that with my daughter on her first Christmas.”

Santa walked from room to room Friday, posing for pictures with families preparing for their first Christmas with their newborn infants.

“We’re so out of our routine,” said Timothy Morrow, whose newborn twins are in the NICU. “It’s really hard, ya know. It’s a bit adjustment. Just the small things really make it come back. It helps.”
