Man fatally shot by Louisville police responding to abuse call

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — Police in Louisville are investigating after an officer fatally shot a man while responding to a domestic abuse call.

WAVE reports that Louisville Metro police responded about 9:30 a.m. to reports of trouble at a residence on Greenwood Avenue in the city's Parkland neighborhood.

Authorities said that police encountered a man with a gun who allegedly pointed the weapon at officers.

Officials said at least one officer shot the man, who was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two other people were hospitalized from injuries related to domestic violence, police said. The extent of those injuries was not disclosed.

No officers were injured in the incident, officials said.

Louisville police continue to investigate the shooting.
