LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Laurel County arrested a man for unlawful imprisonment after deputies reported freeing a woman who claimed she had been locked inside a home.

Authorities said 62-year-old Johnny D. Burdine was arrested Tuesday morning at a residence on Somerset Road in London.

Police were called out to a disturbance and deputies found a woman who told them through a glass door that Burdine had locked her inside the residence and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave.

Deputies forced the door open, freeing the woman.

Burdine then rushed toward the officers while armed with a crowbar and hammer. Police were able to get Burdine to drop the weapons and took him into custody.

He was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and menacing.

Burdine was being held in the Laurel County Detention Center.
