Coroner identifies couple killed in Nicholasville parachute crash

The two people who were killed in a parachute crash in Nicholasville on Sunday evening have been identified by the coroner.

According to Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes, the two were identified as 72-year-old Micheal David Murphy and 72-year-old Connie J. Murphy.

Coroner Hughes told LEX 18 that the two were married.

We now know Micheal Murphy was a retired Lexington Police Officer. Murphy was with the department from 1974 to 1998, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Two people have been confirmed dead by officials after a small aircraft appeared to crash in a field in Nicholasville on Sunday evening.

Officials reported on Sunday night that the man and woman who died appeared to have been husband and wife.

LEX 18 team on the scene reported that a major police presence has been seen in a field near Ashgrove Road in Nicholasville on Sunday evening.

Viewers in the area reported to LEX 18 that a small aircraft was seen going down in the field. Further, LEX 18 has confirmed that a coroner is also on the scene.
