LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Louisville said a man killed his father with a crossbow and seriously injured his sister in an attack with a frying pan.

Police say Gerald Beavers III was arrested Thursday after a five-hour manhunt.

Authorities were called out about 1 p.m. to a home on Petty Jay Court on the city's southeast side.

Officers found a woman seriously injured and a man dead.

The dead man's employer, USA Cares, released a statement confirming the victim was Gerry Beavers.

Police searched for the younger Beavers for several hours before taking him into custody about 5 p.m.

The man's sister was in serious condition but was expected to survive, authorities said.

Police have not said if they've identified a motive in the attack.

Charges against Gerald Beavers III were pending.
