LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington were searching for suspects after a woman was shot late Tuesday night while fleeing an armed robbery on the city's far southeast side.
Authorities said the incident unfolded just before midnight near the intersection of Palumbo Drive and Man O War Boulevard.
Police said four men with guns approached a vehicle with two women inside and took their phones and wallets.
At least one of the assailants opened fire as the victims tried to drive away, striking the driver and causing her to crash into a ditch, officials said.
The wounded woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Police said the victims do not appear to know the suspects.
