LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (MTM) — At a special meeting of the Letcher County Fiscal Court, organizers declared itself a "Second Amendment Sanctuary County."
According to Mountain Top News, the declaration means the county will not use its resources to enforce laws that they feel are contrary to the constitutional amendment to bear arms.
The court voted unanimously in favor of the resolution.
Those who spoke in favor cited recent violence at churches and religious communities.
