'Domestic disorder' on Cornerstone Drive in Lexington results in arrest of man, police report

UPDATE: March 21 at 10:30 a.m.

The Lexington Police Department released additional information on the incident that took place on Cornerstone Drive on Thursday, reporting that one man was arrested and faces firearm possession charges and more.

Officials detailed that on Thursday night, officers were called to the home in the 2000 block of Cornerstone Drive for a "domestic disorder."

Upon arrival, officials reported that the suspect, identified by police as 41-year-old Alvin McLaurin, allegedly fled back inside the home. Following extensive negotiation, McLaurin exited the home and was arrested.

One person was treated on the scene for minor injuries, officials noted.

According to police, McLaurin was charged with the following:

  • 13 counts of Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon;
  • Two counts Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Assault Fourth Degree (Minor Injury);
  • Intimidating a Participant in the Legal Process;
  • Using Restricted Ammunition During Felony (no shots), Possession of Marijuana; and
  • Drug Paraphernalia (Buy/Possession).

The Lexington Police Department reports that officers responded to Cornerstone Drive Thursday night in reference to a domestic dispute.

When arriving on the scene, police say the suspect did not communicate with them, and after some time, the suspect surrendered without incident.

Police say the incident is under investigation.

LEX 18 is tracking a large police presence on the 2100 block of Cornerstone Drive in Lexington. At least a dozen police cars, as well as a mobile command unit and SWAT team are on scene.
