HORSE CAVE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Kentucky State Police want drivers to avoid travel during this winter storm. KSP posted a picture to its social media page, saying a trooper was hit Sunday along I-65 in Hart County.
KSP detailed that at around 12 p.m. on Sunday, a KSP cruiser was hit in Hart County after the trooper had just finished working a collision scene on I-65 at mile marker 57.
The trooper, according to KSP, was on the outside shoulder of the road with his emergency equipment activated when his cruiser was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling north.
The trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. KSP added that the driver of the vehicle was given a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
"Please heed warnings and do NOT travel today," KSP said in a post.
