LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — One teen is dead and two others were injured after a shooting on Florence Avenue in Lexington.
LPD Lt. Chris Cooper told our crew on the scene that three people were shot on Saturday night.
Two adults and one teen were transported to the hospital with what he described as "serious injuries."
The 17-year-old teen who was shot, identified as the Fayette County Coroner as Mar'quevion Leach, later died at UK Hospital.
Police say they started receiving calls about gunshots just after 6:00 pm. Neighbors tell our crew on the scene that they heard "many gunshots."
"We think that the individuals here were probably targeted just because of the location and where everybody was in close proximity," said Lt. Cooper when asked if neighbors should continue to be concerned.
No one is in custody at this time for the shooting.
