HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Harlan County man is in jail on murder charges after a Saturday night shooting.

According to Kentucky State Police, they received a call about a shooting at Eastbrook Apartments, near the Harlan city limits, just after 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Police said an initial investigation shows that several people were fighting in a parking lot when 53-year-old Irvin Harris shot 18-year-old Gavin McClain once.

Police said an ambulance took McClain to Harlan ARH where he was pronounced dead by the Harlan County Coroner Philip Bianchi.

KSP detective Jake Middleton arrested and charged Harris with murder. He is in jail at the Harlan County Detention Center.

Middleton continues to investigate the case.
