Gas station robbed at gunpoint on Lexington's south side

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington were investigating after an armed man robbed a gas station early Friday morning on the city's south side.

Authorities said the robbery occurred about 1 a.m. at the Shell gas station near the intersection of Nicholasville Road and Southland Drive.

Police said the man entered the store with a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

The man took an undisclosed amount of money and fled.

A police K9 unit was called out but could not find the suspect.

Officials said the suspect was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers and had a white T-shirt covering his face.

Authorities were asking anyone with information about the crime to call Lexington police.
