LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington were investigating after a homeless man was found dead Friday morning under an overpass on the city's south side.
The freezing temperatures during one of the coldest blasts of the season might have contributed to the 59-year-old man's death, but an official cause will not be known until coroner's inquest is complete.
Officials said a caller alerted emergency officials about 8 a.m. seek a wellness check on someone sleeping under the Interstate Highway 75 overpass at Winchester Road.
The homeless man was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead. Police said foul play was not suspected.
The man's identity was not immediately disclosed.
