The soon-to-be First Lady of Kentucky Britainy Beshear announced the six students who placed in the Team Kentucky inauguration poster contest celebrating the inauguration theme, Team Kentucky.
Students were asked to create posters illustrating what they would like to see Kentuckians work together to accomplish for their schools and their communities.
“As we begin this new chapter for our family and the state, we wanted to include the voices of Kentucky’s children on inauguration day,” Britainy Beshear said. “We saw so much talent and many powerful messages. I invite all Kentuckians to join me in thanking every child, educator, parent and guardian who participated in or supported the contest.”
A panel of judges, including Britainy Beshear, selected the Most Creative and Most Colorful, as well as a winner from each age category. The 14-17 age category resulted in a tie.
The winning posters will be displayed in the Capitol during the inauguration.
The six winners, as well as their families and representatives from their schools, have been invited to the Capitol Tuesday, Dec. 10 for the inauguration, where they will be recognized during the open house after the public swearing-in. The families were offered a travel stipend.
