Lexington currency exchange hit by armed robbery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police descended on a north side neighborhood late Wednesday morning after an armed robbery was reported at a currency exchange.

Authorities said a masked man entered the Cash Express at 671 N. Broadway about 11 a.m. Police said the man was holding a gun and demanded the cashier give him money.

Police said the cashier complied and the bandit fled the store.

Officials did not disclose the amount of cash that was stolen.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Police said no suspects were in custody.
