LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Emergency crews responded to a four-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Lexington.

It happened around 1:15 p.m. at Boardwalk and New Circle Road. Police say a car was driving in the inner loop of New Circle Road approaching Boardwalk. Traffic was stopped for a red light but that car did not stop.

Police say that car ran into one car which then crashed into another car. The third car was forced across the median and into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a semi carrying jet fuel. Police say there were no leaks.

The Lexington Fire Department had to extricate two people from the third car. Police say both people were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway is now reopened.
