Names Released In Perry Co. Officer-Involved Shooting

HAZARD, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky state police have identified the trooper and the man killed in an officer involved shooting incident in Perry County.

According to officials, on June 11 KSP Troopers, Drug Enforcement Special Investigations (DESI) East Interdiction Team and Perry County Sheriff’s Deputies were on Hull School Road in the Bonnyman community attempting to execute a search warrant at a residence.  Officers on scene heard a gunshot at a nearby residence.

After negotiation, three of the five individuals in the home came outside and were detained.  With no additional communication officers shifted their attention to the original home to execute the search warrant.

After an extended period of time, the two remaining individuals ran outside and were confronted by troopers and a deputy. One of the individuals was armed with a gun and was given verbal commands to drop the weapon. Police say the individual refused to comply and gunfire was exchanged.

One trooper received a gunshot wound, while the armed individual involved in the exchange was killed.

Kentucky State Police identified the injured state trooper as Brad Martin is a five-year veteran of the force. The deceased individual was identified as Zendall Noble, 58, of Bonnyman.

Both Trooper Martin and Trooper Ronnie Long were placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. Deputy Kevin Day, a 7 year veteran with Perry County Sheriff’s Department was also placed on administrative leave.
