Deputies: Woman Held Against Her Will In A Tent In Laurel Co.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man was arrested after deputies say his girlfriend was hiding from him with the help of Walmart employees after he had kept her held against her will for days.

Deputies say that the boyfriend was walking around the store looking for the victim. She was hiding with the help of employees. She said she had been held against her will for over two days in a tent.

Deputies noted visible injuries on the victim’s face, jaw bones, and nose area.

She told deputies that when she tried to escape the tent, her boyfriend would hit her. The two made a trip to the Corbin Walmart to get food, and she was able to flee into a different section of the store and receive assistance from employees.

Elmo Clinton Carroll was arrested and charged with assault – 4th degree – domestic violence; unlawful imprisonment – second-degree.

He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
