SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Children in Scott County can eat breakfast and lunch for free at some Scott County Schools throughout the summer.

Breakfast is available from 9-9:30 a.m. at Southern and Lemons Mill Elementary schools. Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Garth, Southern, Lemons Mill, Stamping Ground Elementary and Scott County High School.

There are also mobile delivery routes, according to Mitzi Marshall, Director of Nutrition for Scott County Schools.

“We’re reaching about 800 kids a day and hope that keeps growing,” Marshall said.

All children under 19 are welcome to eat for free, she said.

“There’s a lot of kids that in the summer miss that meal that they get at school every day,” she said. “We want to be sure that we’re available for anybody that needs it to be able to get a good meal and be fed.”

The free meals are available Monday through Friday until school begins again in late August. Meals will not be available on July 4th or 5th.
