WARREN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — New details are emerging after a Bowling Green city commissioner was arrested recently for alcohol intoxication, officials said.

Authorities said Brian Nash was arrested Thursday.

According to a news release from the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Nash was spotted leaving the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center. A deputy reported that Nash appeared to be extremely intoxicated.

According to the sheriff’s office, Nash got into his car and started the vehicle but was stopped before leaving the parking lot.

Nash reportedly told a deputy he wasn’t going anywhere.

Sheriff Brett Hightower released a second statement about the incident after fielding questions about why Nash was not charged with driving under the influence.

Hightower said he asked the arresting officer the same question and believes different charges could have been brought.
