PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Pike County man is dead after police say he crashed his vehicle during a pursuit.
According to Kentucky State Police, troopers were called out to a disturbance call at the Willard Thompson Trailer Court. Officers were out with a victim when a vehicle drove by at a high rate of speed.
The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not stop. Chase speeds reached a high of 60 MPH on a rural state road. The driver lost control and ran over an embankment, striking several trees.
The vehicle caught fire. The trooper attempted to remove the driver from the car but was unable to do so due to the flames.
The driver was later identified as Dalelano Henderson, 35.
