WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Search and rescue teams jumped into action Saturday to help a man who suffered a cardiac event at Red River Gorge.
The man fell ill about 11 a.m. near Hanson’s Point in Wolfe County.
Rescuers first attempted to fly a helicopter in to help the man, but that effort was called off due to severe weather that was moving into the area.
Instead, crews carried the man three miles out of the forest to a waiting ambulance.
The man was taken to an area hospital. His condition was not disclosed.
