GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Garrard County elementary school teacher was arrested after police say she drove to school drunk.

According to the arrest citation, 39-year-old Belinda Vance crashed in the parking lot of Paint Lick Elementary School, then she went into the school.

Officers say that they performed a field sobriety test and Vance blew a .198, which is more than double the legal limit.

Vance was arrested and now faces multiple charges.

Garrard County Superintendent Corey Keith said in a statement, “This morning, a staff member at Paint Lick Elementary School was involved in a single-car collision on school grounds.  School staff and law enforcement acted swiftly and appropriately to ensure student safety.  Consistent with board policy, the staff member is suspended pending further investigation.”
