Mother Dies From Injuries After Harlan County Fire That Killed Two Children

TOTZ, Ky. (LEX 18)– The mother of twins killed in a fire in Harlan County has died in a Georgia hospital.

Kentucky State Police say that 42-year-old Allyson Howard has died. Her husband, Dennis Chad Howard, remains in critical condition.

The two adults were flown from Harlan County to Holston Valley Hospital in Tennessee. They were then flown to a hospital in Augusta, Georgia for treatment of burns.

Their twin children were found dead inside of the home. They were three-years-old.

On April 22, 2019, KSP received a call about a house fire around 11:18 a.m. The house was on Ky 522 in the Totz community of Harlan County.
