ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– An 18-year-old accused of shooting and killing her boyfriend was arraigned in court Monday morning.

Anderson County deputies and Kentucky State Police surrounded a home on country estates in Lawrenceburg last Saturday night. They were responding to a 911 call made for a possible accidental shooting. Kyle York, 19, was found inside the home with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in Frankfort where he later died.

Days later, Kyle’s 18-year-old girlfriend, Jordan Witt, was arrested and charged with his murder.

In court, she pleaded not guilty to the accusations. Her lawyer hopes to lower her $250,000 bond, but the prosecution asked to raise it to $500,000.

The judge denied both requests and kept the bond as is.

A preliminary hearing for Witt is scheduled for May 2.
