Making A Difference: Style From The Heart

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – What woman doesn’t love to feel beautiful and pampered? That was the inspiration for an event aimed at helping women in recovery.

Whether it’s a splash of paint on the nails or a brand new blowout, there’s something about looking good that makes a woman feel good.

The students at Lexington’s Summit Salon Academy opened their doors today, asking women from area recovery centers and homeless shelters to have a seat and be pampered.

“Sometimes you have to meet people’s needs on the outside before you can meet them spiritually on the inside,” said Meredith Elliot of Summit Salon Academy.

For the students, it’s a learning experience but also an opportunity to see just how much their services can impact a person’s life.

And for the clients, they say it’s a confidence builder…to come in and be treated no different than anyone else.

The event shows that regardless of a woman’s past, the opportunity to be treated with respect and kindness is always welcome.
