HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Cynthiana police officer has been arrested after he allegedly exchanged sexually explicit images with a juvenile.
32-year-old John Philpot was arrested around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the police chief, Philpot was arrested while he was on duty at the Cynthiana Police Department.
An arrest citation states Philpot reportedly engaged in “sexual talk” with a 16-year-old and 17-year-old via Snapchat. He also allegedly sent a picture of his penis on more than one occasion to the 17-year-old and asked for pictures in return.
Philpot admitted to police that he did receive images of the 17-year-old in the bathtub and saw her unclothed.
He was arrested on numerous charges and lodged in the Scott County Detention Center.
According to the Cynthiana Police Department, Philpot has been suspended without pay.
