BEREA, Ky. (LEX 18) – A couple from Berea charged with the murder of a two-year-old was back in front of a judge this afternoon.
William Butler and Seara Clements are accused of beating her son, Tristan, to death and the defendants continue to point the fingers at one another.
Since their arrest last year, the pair have tried to implicate each other in Tristan’s death. Butler told police Clements threw the child through a wall, while Clements claims that Butler bit Tristan and squeezed and spanked him.
Among the motions broached today was one filed by Clements’ lawyers, trying to compel Butler to have an impression made of his teeth. She’s also requesting that cell phone data be provided to her team to review conversations between the couple. The judge didn’t make any decisions on the motions today.
The trial was originally scheduled for June. That will now be moved to accommodate both sides as they wait on addition potential evidence.
