ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two people have been arrested in connection to the death of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby as well as the shooting of another individual.
Lawrenceburg police said its officers were called out around 6 a.m. to a report of a possible home invasion on Saffell Street.
Kentucky State Police said a woman who was in the third trimester of her pregnancy and a man were found with gunshot wounds.
Authorities later said 22-year-old Lauryn T. Kinne and her unborn baby were pronounced dead at a Frankfort hospital, where they had been taken. Officials said the man was able to drive himself to an area hospital and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Johnathan T. Harley, 20, of Lawrenceburg, was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree. Police say that Harley was interviewed by detectives and initially denied any knowledge of the robbery plans.
He later admitted to taking part in the planning and execution of the robbery. Other charges are pending.
Officials later arrested Derrick Morris, 33, of Frankfort, on charges of murder and robbery. KSP identifies him as the person who assaulted the male and shot Kinne, resulting in her death.
“That’s the sad thing about it, is the little baby don’t … the girl’s only 22-years-old and that baby doesn’t have a chance,” said neighbor Rick Kyler. ” I just can’t imagine, you know?
The shooting happened across the street from Saffell Street Elementary School, and the Anderson County superintendent ordered a two-hour delay for all schools in the district.
