BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A company in Danville is using sunshine to fuel everything. They are offering battery charges for cars for free.

You can charge your electric car’s battery for free at Wilderness Trace Solar.

Laura Zaspel works at Wilderness Trace Solar.

She drives her electric Fiat to work every day. Zaspel convinced her employer to use Evolve Kentucky’s Adopt-A-Charger program to install Danville’s first free public charging station. Evolve Kentucky sent the charger and the cables and the company installed it.

“They offer free charging to employees or customers as a means of furthering the charging infrastructure for EVs across the state,” Zaspel told LEX 18.

The company foots the electric bill, but at Wilderness Trace Solar, that’s no problem. The building gets its energy using solar panels, which also fuel the charging station.

“I’m driving on sunshine,” she said.

The charger is for everyone to use. For Zaspel, it means she has a constant charge while at work.
