KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (WCPO)– Authorities in Kenton County called for a shelter-in-place Sunday afternoon after a chemical leak.

It happened just before 1 p.m. on Latonia Avenue in Fort Wright.

Officials say a pressure release valve failed at the Interplastic Corporation plant, which led to the release of a chemical irritant.

The shelter in place applied to people within 1,000 feet of 43rd and Boron streets.

Hazmat units responded to the scene.

The shelter in place has since been lifted.

We’re told no one was hurt.
